About Buckfastleigh Community News

Buckfastleigh Community News is a volunteer-run service that shares updates from local organisations both online and in print. This website features regularly updated articles from community groups across Buckfastleigh, Buckfast, Holne, and Scoriton. Each article is published live once reviewed and approved, providing a real-time view of what’s happening in our area.

In addition to the website, we produce a printed news sheet ten times a year. This summary edition is delivered free of charge to every household in the area and includes brief versions of the submitted articles (usually without photos to reduce costs). Together, these platforms offer a reliable and accessible source of local information for all residents.

Submitting Articles & Getting in Touch

We welcome contributions from local groups, organisations, and individuals. The best way to submit news, announcements, or photos is via the online submission form, which ensures your article is properly formatted and entered directly into our system.

You can also include a personal message to the editor, Chris Doidge, using the same form. This allows for quick, clear communication without relying on email. While we will continue accepting email submissions for now, we encourage everyone to switch to the form in future.

For other queries or feedback, please use the contact form to get in touch with the editorial team.

Funding and Support

Buckfastleigh Community News is funded entirely through donations and grants. We do not carry commercial advertising, instead relying on support from generous individuals, local sponsors, and community organisations.

Our largest cost is printing and delivering the news sheet to every household. This service is run entirely by volunteers, and we are grateful for all the support that helps make it possible.

About the Wigram Community Association

The Wigram Community Association was formed in the 1980s as a weekly drop-in based at the back of St Luke’s Church in Buckfastleigh. It was named in honour of the late Dr Wigram, a much-loved local GP. Initially serving as a friendly meeting place on Thursdays, the association gradually shifted its focus.

Today, it exists solely to manage Buckfastleigh Community News — both this website and the printed edition. Entirely volunteer-run, the association remains dedicated to supporting community communication and keeping local residents informed and connected.
